Narrative:

Just as aircraft was entering the ramp and crossing the south roadway a catering truck crossed our path from the right to left (the truck would have been going wbound) at an excessive speed (about 50+ mph) outside the roadway markings (the truck was racing across the ramp and was outside the marked roadway by at least 10-15 ft). I had to slam on the aircraft brakes to avoid hitting the truck. (There was other traffic stopped on the west side of ramp going eastbound; that was giving way to us so it was not like they did not see us entering the ramp.) after parking at the gate I was informed by flight attendant that he injured himself due to the abrupt stop.
