Narrative:

During roll out after landing on runway 27 at swf; the tower controller asked us where we were parking. I stated that we were going to the FBO; but were very unfamiliar and we are requesting a progressive taxi. The controller then stated; left on taxiway alpha 3; left on alpha; then right on charlie. At the time we were still rolling out with the thrust reversers still deployed so I requested he standby until we cleared the runway. We then cleared the runway; completed the after landing and asked him to repeat the instructions. The controller repeated left on taxiway alpha and right on taxiway charlie. We turned left on taxiway alpha and taxied slow while looking for charlie taxiway. There was no sign before the taxiway as we approached; but after passing it we saw a sign to guide pilots coming from the other direction. The controller saw this and then instructed us to taxi onto a non-active runway and taxi down to the next taxiway to rejoin taxiway charlie. After shutting the aircraft down; I entered the FBO and called the tower. He stated that it was a very common problem at the airport. I asked if we caused any problems and he said no and we were all set and not to worry about it. The copilot had the airport diagram on his yoke as we only had one and I was taxiing the aircraft from the left seat.

Narrative: DURING ROLL OUT AFTER LANDING ON RUNWAY 27 AT SWF; THE TOWER CONTROLLER ASKED US WHERE WE WERE PARKING. I STATED THAT WE WERE GOING TO THE FBO; BUT WERE VERY UNFAMILIAR AND WE ARE REQUESTING A PROGRESSIVE TAXI. THE CONTROLLER THEN STATED; LEFT ON TXWY ALPHA 3; LEFT ON ALPHA; THEN RIGHT ON CHARLIE. THE CONTROLLER REPEATED LEFT ON TXWY ALPHA AND RIGHT ON TXWY CHARLIE. WE TURNED LEFT ON TXWY ALPHA AND TAXIED SLOW WHILE LOOKING FOR CHARLIE TAXIWAY. THERE WAS NO SIGN BEFORE THE TAXIWAY AS WE APPROACHED; BUT AFTER PASSING IT WE SAW A SIGN TO GUIDE PILOTS COMING FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION. THE CONTROLLER SAW THIS AND THEN INSTRUCTED US TO TAXI ONTO A NON-ACTIVE RUNWAY AND TAXI DOWN TO THE NEXT TAXIWAY TO REJOIN TXWY CHARLIE.
