Narrative:

Maintenance had just performed a leak check using a gpu to run the hydraulic pumps. They had also pinned the gear doors so that they could not close while they were checking for leaks with the hydraulic pumps running. Once the work was completed the logbook was signed off and returned to the flight deck. The first officer went to inspect the work and 2 mechanics were still wiping down the inside of the gear well. They told the first officer that the work was completed and that they were just about finished. The first officer said thanks and had to go to the crew room to obtain more weight and balance forms. Upon return to the aircraft; the mechanic gave him the thumbs up and he returned to the flight deck. Once on the flight deck; he reported that all work was complete and we were good to go. We then completed the paperwork and pushed back. Once both engines were started and all checklists completed; we taxied to our spot. It was then that I noticed that the right gear doors were not closed. We then called ramp and returned to the gate. Once at the gate; I called dispatch and maintenance and informed them of the problem. A write-up was recorded in the logbook and maintenance returned to the aircraft and removed the door pin. The flight then continued without further incident.
