Narrative:

On nov/xa/08 I was assigned to right&right audio tapes on aircraft X. (Station) was not supplied the required audio tapes. On the work card form that mechanics are required to document; I unintentionally stamped the section complete and documented the compliance section as 'no tapes received.' this was a line maintenance function. I was informed that aircraft records analyst had found the error. The administration and reorganizing of airline paperwork system leaves much to be desired -- even the computer system is; for many; like trying to work a crossword puzzle. I admit I was caught in the maze and felt like I had been hazed. I let the documentation get away from me. Airline didn't have these type of problems with the system we had in play a few yrs ago. I know we will not go back to that system. Maybe the present system we are working with could be modified to resemble that (workable) system we had. I understand that the problem I have had has been running throughout the system; and has been for some time. Now that aircraft is a bigger operation; the above problem is bigger and more costly.

Narrative: ON NOV/XA/08 I WAS ASSIGNED TO R&R AUDIO TAPES ON ACFT X. (STATION) WAS NOT SUPPLIED THE REQUIRED AUDIO TAPES. ON THE WORK CARD FORM THAT MECHS ARE REQUIRED TO DOCUMENT; I UNINTENTIONALLY STAMPED THE SECTION COMPLETE AND DOCUMENTED THE COMPLIANCE SECTION AS 'NO TAPES RECEIVED.' THIS WAS A LINE MAINT FUNCTION. I WAS INFORMED THAT ACFT RECORDS ANALYST HAD FOUND THE ERROR. AIRLINE DIDN'T HAVE THESE TYPE OF PROBS WITH THE SYSTEM WE HAD IN PLAY A FEW YRS AGO. I KNOW WE WILL NOT GO BACK TO THAT SYSTEM. MAYBE THE PRESENT SYSTEM WE ARE WORKING WITH COULD BE MODIFIED TO RESEMBLE THAT (WORKABLE) SYSTEM WE HAD. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE PROB I HAVE HAD HAS BEEN RUNNING THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM; AND HAS BEEN FOR SOME TIME. NOW THAT ACFT IS A BIGGER OP; THE ABOVE PROB IS BIGGER AND MORE COSTLY.
