Narrative:

I believe that ferry flight was dispatched illegally without a proper maintenance document with maintenance knowledge. I feel that myself and my first officer were misinformed about the true status of the aircraft. I have been informed by the mechanic that accompanied us on said flight that the aircraft did not have a rudder trim issue as was written on the maintenance document but had a more serious problem with the primary flight controls being way out of rig. This flight should have been flown by engineering pilots; instead maintenance covered up the problem and sent us on reposition ferry flight to ZZZ. In the interest of self disclosure; I am demanding a full investigation and have notified my union and its air safety chairman.
