Narrative:
During cruise flight; left hydraulic quantity EICAS came up. Left system was down to .46. Complied with checklist; shut off left system hydraulic pumps; and quantity stopped decreasing. On arrival turned left pumps back on to configure; and quantity decreased to about .15. We were able to configure normally; and taxi to the gate. Supplemental information from acn 804846: we contacted dispatch which in turn contacted maintenance. We conferred with maintenance and we agreed that there was most likely a leak and there was nothing else that could be done. Dispatch indicated he would inform tower of our situation and they would have the emergency equipment waiting and a tow should we need it.
