Narrative:

We were clrd to 17000' by controller working at least 2 different frequencys. We were clrd to cross lamma intersection at 12000'. We acknowledged clearance and started des. Center made no comment. I started the des, but stopped at 16600' and reconfirmed clearance with center, as we were on assigned heading for dab. Center said our clearance was still 17000' and clearance was for aircraft with similar call sign, but then clrd us to 12000'. We started to question his previous clearance, but he said he was too busy and call on ground. No further problems. This is my greatest concern with controllers, whether ground, tower, approach-departure or center using 2 or more frequencys. Sooner or later it is going to cause a major problem or accident.

Title: MLG COPIED DESCENT CLRNC FOR ANOTHER ACFT WITH SIMILAR CALL SIGN, BUT ON DIFFERENT FREQ. STARTED DESCENT AND THEN QUESTIONED ATC.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRD TO 17000' BY CTLR WORKING AT LEAST 2 DIFFERENT FREQS. WE WERE CLRD TO CROSS LAMMA INTXN AT 12000'. WE ACKNOWLEDGED CLRNC AND STARTED DES. CENTER MADE NO COMMENT. I STARTED THE DES, BUT STOPPED AT 16600' AND RECONFIRMED CLRNC WITH CENTER, AS WE WERE ON ASSIGNED HDG FOR DAB. CENTER SAID OUR CLRNC WAS STILL 17000' AND CLRNC WAS FOR ACFT WITH SIMILAR CALL SIGN, BUT THEN CLRD US TO 12000'. WE STARTED TO QUESTION HIS PREVIOUS CLRNC, BUT HE SAID HE WAS TOO BUSY AND CALL ON GND. NO FURTHER PROBS. THIS IS MY GREATEST CONCERN WITH CTLRS, WHETHER GND, TWR, APCH-DEP OR CENTER USING 2 OR MORE FREQS. SOONER OR LATER IT IS GOING TO CAUSE A MAJOR PROB OR ACCIDENT.
