Narrative:

We were cleared for takeoff on runway 15 at bur and subsequently took the runway and advanced the power for takeoff. Approaching V1; bur tower instructed us to cancel our takeoff clearance. By the time we could react; we were at V1 and I told the tower we were unable to comply and continued the takeoff. Once airborne; I asked bur tower if there was a problem and they replied no and handed us off to socal. My concern in this situation is the timing of the event. Obviously; the tower should not cancel our takeoff clearance at such a critical phase of flight unless absolutely critical. Make sure tower controllers understand how critical a rejected takeoff can be at high speeds and don't issue them unless absolutely necessary.

Title: B737 DEP FROM BUR AT V1 IS REQUESTED BY ATC TO CANCEL TKOF; FLT CREW ELECTS TO CONTINUE TKOF ADVISING TWR.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 15 AT BUR AND SUBSEQUENTLY TOOK THE RWY AND ADVANCED THE PWR FOR TKOF. APCHING V1; BUR TWR INSTRUCTED US TO CANCEL OUR TKOF CLRNC. BY THE TIME WE COULD REACT; WE WERE AT V1 AND I TOLD THE TWR WE WERE UNABLE TO COMPLY AND CONTINUED THE TKOF. ONCE AIRBORNE; I ASKED BUR TWR IF THERE WAS A PROB AND THEY REPLIED NO AND HANDED US OFF TO SOCAL. MY CONCERN IN THIS SITUATION IS THE TIMING OF THE EVENT. OBVIOUSLY; THE TWR SHOULD NOT CANCEL OUR TKOF CLRNC AT SUCH A CRITICAL PHASE OF FLT UNLESS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL. MAKE SURE TWR CTLRS UNDERSTAND HOW CRITICAL A REJECTED TKOF CAN BE AT HIGH SPDS AND DON'T ISSUE THEM UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
