Narrative:

We were flying an approach into anc. While descending to 6000 ft on a vector for the ILS 14; we were advised of traffic at our 11 O'clock position; a cessna; below our altitude. The captain was the PNF and advised anc approach that we were IMC. Approach then gave us a vector 10 degrees to the left; putting the traffic at our 12 O'clock position. We became concerned as we watched the traffic on TCAS directly ahead and less than 1000 ft below us. As we descended; we got a TCAS RA. I clicked off the autoplt and autothrottles to follow the TCAS guidance. I looked at the TCAS and noted that the traffic was 600 ft below us. We cleared the conflict and advised ATC of the RA. We were then given vectors for an uneventful ILS. Better attention to IFR and VFR traffic in the same airspace on the part of ATC.
