Narrative:

Flight was cleared to squad intersection. A few minutes prior to squad; ny ARTCC asked what we showed for squad. The FMGC database showed squad as: N38 06.8/ W070 27.8. The chart showed squad as: N37 59.9/ W070 35.0. We explained this to ARTCC and they recleared us to the correct squad location as shown on the chart. We manually programmed this waypoint and continued on as cleared. Another flight behind us had the same problem. The erroneous database location was about 8 miles off and put us within a few miles of kingg intersection; so it could have caused a conflict. ARTCC queried us about our navigation to squad intersection. We manually programmed the correct coordinates for squad intersection. Thu; 10/2008 xa:51 Z we manually programmed the correct coordinates for squad intersection. Aircraft database was incorrect for a navigational fix on the chart. Pilots are not required to verify each latitude/long for each fix; so it went undetected until pointed out by ARTCC. Pilots could double check latitude/long for rvsm/oceanic gateway fixes.

Title: A319 FLT CREW DEPARTING JFK NOTICES WHEN QUERIED THAT THEIR FMS DATABASE COORDINATES FOR SQUAD DO NOT MATCH THOSE ON THEIR FLT PLAN.

Narrative: FLT WAS CLEARED TO SQUAD INTXN. ANOTHER FLT BEHIND US HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE ERRONEOUS DATABASE LOCATION WAS ABOUT 8 MILES OFF AND PUT US WITHIN A FEW MILES OF KINGG INTXN; SO IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A CONFLICT. ARTCC QUERIED US ABOUT OUR NAVIGATION TO SQUAD INTXN. WE MANUALLY PROGRAMMED THE CORRECT COORDINATES FOR SQUAD INTXN. THU; 10/2008 XA:51 Z WE MANUALLY PROGRAMMED THE CORRECT COORDINATES FOR SQUAD INTXN. ACFT DATABASE WAS INCORRECT FOR A NAVIGATIONAL FIX ON THE CHART. PLTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO VERIFY EACH LAT/LONG FOR EACH FIX; SO IT WENT UNDETECTED UNTIL POINTED OUT BY ARTCC. PLTS COULD DOUBLE CHECK LAT/LONG FOR RVSM/OCEANIC GATEWAY FIXES.
