Diverted into ZZZ and had subsequent overweight landing. This diversion due to flight being under-svced with potable water in ZZZ. Flight ran out of water approximately 6 hours into a 12 hour flight. Landing was approximately 10000 pounds over maximum landing weight. Touchdown was smooth. Aircraft was inspected by maintenance and released. Flight continued to destination approximately 3 hours late.
