Narrative:

During takeoff just after V1; left engine overheat. Continue takeoff; positive rate; gear up. As gear retracted; loud bang seemed to come from under floor. First thought; nosewheel tire failure. Upon climb out; reduced to climb power. Engine overheat went out. At this time we thought 2 separate occurrences. We still thought we might have a nosewheel tire problem. Being overweight to land; elevation at ZZZ; conferred with dispatch; continued to ZZZ1. Upon arrival at ZZZ1; declared an emergency; did low altitude flyby runway for visual inspection. Gear appeared down and locked; visual inspection appeared normal. Proceeded with a normal landing. Prepped flight attendants and passenger for normal landing. Upon inspection from emergency personnel after landing; taxied to gate. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: maintenance could find no faults with the nose gear and surmised that the very high takeoff speeds at the departure airport may have been a factor that caused the nose gear to bang when retracted.

Title: A319 FLT CREW REPORTS ENGINE OVERHEAT DURING TKOF AND LOUD BANG AS NOSE GEAR IS RETRACTED.

Narrative: DURING TKOF JUST AFTER V1; L ENG OVERHEAT. CONTINUE TKOF; POSITIVE RATE; GEAR UP. AS GEAR RETRACTED; LOUD BANG SEEMED TO COME FROM UNDER FLOOR. FIRST THOUGHT; NOSEWHEEL TIRE FAILURE. UPON CLBOUT; REDUCED TO CLB PWR. ENG OVERHEAT WENT OUT. AT THIS TIME WE THOUGHT 2 SEPARATE OCCURRENCES. WE STILL THOUGHT WE MIGHT HAVE A NOSEWHEEL TIRE PROB. BEING OVERWT TO LAND; ELEVATION AT ZZZ; CONFERRED WITH DISPATCH; CONTINUED TO ZZZ1. UPON ARR AT ZZZ1; DECLARED AN EMER; DID LOW ALT FLYBY RWY FOR VISUAL INSPECTION. GEAR APPEARED DOWN AND LOCKED; VISUAL INSPECTION APPEARED NORMAL. PROCEEDED WITH A NORMAL LNDG. PREPPED FLT ATTENDANTS AND PAX FOR NORMAL LNDG. UPON INSPECTION FROM EMER PERSONNEL AFTER LNDG; TAXIED TO GATE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: MAINTENANCE COULD FIND NO FAULTS WITH THE NOSE GEAR AND SURMISED THAT THE VERY HIGH TKOF SPEEDS AT THE DEPARTURE ARPT MAY HAVE BEEN A FACTOR THAT CAUSED THE NOSE GEAR TO BANG WHEN RETRACTED.
