Narrative:

I was making my first water landing in the kitfox after amphibious floats were installed. Approach and touchdown were normal until I relaxed the back pressure on the stick at which time the front of the floats dug in the water. The aircraft decelerated rapidly and I was ejected out of the cockpit. The aircraft made left turns on the lake until running ashore. I was a little nervous because it was my first water landing in the kitfox. I was wearing life preserver and had a boat spotted on the lake I was landing on. I think because the environment was new to me I neglected to fasten my seatbelt. I believe this would have been a non event had my seatbelt been fastened.
