Narrative:

On takeoff roll; we got an ECAM; automatic brake fault -- brakes released; and aborted the takeoff at approximately 70 KTS. We cleared the runway; set the parking brake; and referenced the flight manual and called maintenance. The left brake truck temperatures reached 585 degrees on the outboard brake and remained at 180 degrees on the inboard brake. After concurring with maintenance; we returned to the gate; chocked the mains; and released the parking brake. Maintenance took the aircraft OTS.
