Narrative:

While trying to visually inspect the hydraulic line routing for #3 flight spoiler; I used a rubber wheel chock to block up the #3 spoiler board. After my inspection; I neglected to remove the wheel chock. Hydraulic power was applied and aircraft damage occurred to the upper fixed trailing edge panel and support rod. It was discovered by another mechanic working around the aircraft. The factors contributing to this were my extreme negligence. I was in such a hurry to find the right fix for my aircraft; that I failed to use the necessary safety and work area precautions resulting in 2 unserviceable aircraft. The time I saved 'cutting corners' was lost; and then some; by not going to the tool window and getting the spoiler locks. While our workload was heavy; we could have all worked together and done our normal 'get the plane fixed' teamwork. Supplemental information from acn 784775: while working on aircraft we removed a temperature hydraulic line. I went upstairs (cockpit) and turned on hydraulics and raised spoilers. Then went downstairs and looked at lines (not realizing a chock was being used to hold them up after I shut hydraulic off). I never took note of the chock. I should have slowed down and doublechked the area before continuing to lower the spoilers.

AFTER MY INSPECTION; I NEGLECTED TO REMOVE THE WHEEL CHOCK. HYD PWR WAS APPLIED AND ACFT DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE UPPER FIXED TRAILING EDGE PANEL AND SUPPORT ROD. WHILE OUR WORKLOAD WAS HVY; WE COULD HAVE ALL WORKED TOGETHER AND DONE OUR NORMAL 'GET THE PLANE FIXED' TEAMWORK. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 784775: WHILE WORKING ON ACFT WE REMOVED A TEMP HYD LINE. I WENT UPSTAIRS (COCKPIT) AND TURNED ON HYDS AND RAISED SPOILERS. THEN WENT DOWNSTAIRS AND LOOKED AT LINES (NOT REALIZING A CHOCK WAS BEING USED TO HOLD THEM UP AFTER I SHUT HYD OFF). I NEVER TOOK NOTE OF THE CHOCK. I SHOULD HAVE SLOWED DOWN AND DOUBLECHKED THE AREA BEFORE CONTINUING TO LOWER THE SPOILERS.
