Narrative:

I had multiple IFR aircraft trying to land at jfk. Level 5 thunderstorms were reported by multiple aircraft. The jfk arrs were deviating out of my area of control to avoid the WX. I advised my supervisor of the situation and asked him to ask tmu to rerte the jfk arrs to the north and west away from the thunderstorms. Tmu told my supervisor that they would not rerte the aircraft that they in fact could get in through my sector. After holding 1 aircraft; vectoring a second around the WX; and rerouting a third aircraft; I shut off jfk arrs at the sector for safety. After I shut off the jfk arrs at the sector; tmu then rerted the jfk arrs to the west around the WX.
