Narrative:
Aircraft requesting taxi clearance from ramp was informed to 'exit ramp at xx; proceed down taxiway G; then on to taxiway west and re-enter the ramp at spot yy.' never was there a mention to contact ground control. Now the captain said 'wait a min buckaroo; call ground control.' when ground was contacted; he just mentioned 'roger' when flight deck repeated the previous clearance given by ramp control. Aircraft proceeded to spot yy where ground control was again contacted with a normal taxi clearance received. Who controls what?
