Narrative:

Steering actuator part was received with bearing journal out of round. Would not fit on steering plate. Part had to be sent back. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the outside vendor did not overhaul the steering actuator bearing journal to the manufacturer's required specifications. This was found when mechanic realized the vendor overhauled steering actuator journal would not fit into the steering plate cutouts.

Title: MECHANIC NOTICES AN OUTSIDE VENDOR OVERHAULED B-777 NOSE STEERING ACTUATOR WOULD NOT FIT ON THE ACTUATOR STEERING PLATE DUE TO OUT OF ROUND BEARING JOURNAL.

Narrative: STEERING ACTUATOR PART WAS RECEIVED WITH BEARING JOURNAL OUT OF ROUND. WOULD NOT FIT ON STEERING PLATE. PART HAD TO BE SENT BACK. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: REPORTER STATED THE OUTSIDE VENDOR DID NOT OVERHAUL THE STEERING ACTUATOR BEARING JOURNAL TO THE MANUFACTURER'S REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS. THIS WAS FOUND WHEN MECHANIC REALIZED THE VENDOR OVERHAULED STEERING ACTUATOR JOURNAL WOULD NOT FIT INTO THE STEERING PLATE CUTOUTS.
