Narrative:
During climb out; we lost green system hydraulics and received ECAM 'hydraulic gear reservoir low level.' we performed the ECAM items and the associated checklists; declared an emergency; turned back toward departure airport and contacted dispatch; maintenance; purser; and the passenger. We ran the checklists; discussed the operational considerations; and planned the landing and rollout. We landed uneventfully; and stopped at the end and received a tow-in to the gate. We debriefed the emergency afterwards and concluded that all went well; and the training we received was sufficient to deal with the emergency.
