Narrative:

While en route at FL340; the left side window shattered. QRH was followed and psi remained normal. Dispatch and maintenance were informed of the situation and had no further information other than to continue on unless the condition of the window changed for the worse. Approximately 15 mins later; dispatch called us and requested that we divert to ZZZ. When I asked them for a reason; they stated that they believed icing conditions in ZZZ were less of a factor than at destination. I received WX and fuel burn to ZZZ and commenced the diversion.

Title: CRJ200 COCKPIT SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED. FLT DIVERTED TO AN ARPT WHERE ICING CONDITIONS WERE NOT ANTICIPATED.

Narrative: WHILE ENRTE AT FL340; THE L SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED. QRH WAS FOLLOWED AND PSI REMAINED NORMAL. DISPATCH AND MAINT WERE INFORMED OF THE SITUATION AND HAD NO FURTHER INFO OTHER THAN TO CONTINUE ON UNLESS THE CONDITION OF THE WINDOW CHANGED FOR THE WORSE. APPROX 15 MINS LATER; DISPATCH CALLED US AND REQUESTED THAT WE DIVERT TO ZZZ. WHEN I ASKED THEM FOR A REASON; THEY STATED THAT THEY BELIEVED ICING CONDITIONS IN ZZZ WERE LESS OF A FACTOR THAN AT DEST. I RECEIVED WX AND FUEL BURN TO ZZZ AND COMMENCED THE DIVERSION.
