Narrative:

Aircraft X arrived with a bird strike on the r-hand wing inboard flap lower surface. According to the maintenance manual 'wash affected area per aircraft appearance manual air carrier specification (wet wash).' this reference is a heavy cleaning involving a designated wash area; pitot covers; and hot blasting. This is an incorrect procedure; in my opinion; to wash off a simple bird strike. Engineering instructed me to just use the cleaning agents specified and ignore the lengthy cleaning procedure.
