Narrative:
Flying chins STAR. B777 was behind us. On downwind; ATC took us north and vectored the B777 inside us; so as to put us behind a heavy. This created a hazardous situation that had not previously existed. Obviously there are times we have to follow heavies. However to give the heavy priority and put us in such a position deliberately is unacceptable. Keep aircraft in sequence and/or try to keep the heavy behind the smaller aircraft when ETA's are close.
