Narrative:

On landing; I blew both main gear tires. 1) heavy weight landing (about 150 pounds under maximum landing weight). 2) short runway (plenty long for landing weight but not the longest runway at the airport). 3) high energy approach (touchdown at vref +14K). 4) right gear wow switch indicated weight off wheel for less than 1 second. 5) right tire blew when weight came back on wheel. 6) directional control required enough left brake that the left tire blew. (There is no antiskid on aircraft.) 7)damage was 2 tires; 2 brakes; 2 wheels; 1 gear door. The right tire blew when the tire came back in contact with the runway after the weight was off the wheel. With the brakes applied; the tire blew; the plane started to turn right and left brake was required to stop the turn. The left tire eventually blew. Contributing factors were high energy; right crosswind; no anti-skid installed on the aircraft; high gross weight and short runway. Corrective action is use longer runway; manage speed and energy better on final; use proper crosswind technique.

Title: FOLLOWING A HEAVY CROSSWIND LNDG ON A SHORT RWY; AN ECLIPSE 500 BLEW BOTH TIRES; DAMAGED BOTH BRAKES; WHEELS AND ONE GEAR DOOR.

Narrative: ON LNDG; I BLEW BOTH MAIN GEAR TIRES. 1) HVY WT LNDG (ABOUT 150 LBS UNDER MAX LNDG WT). 2) SHORT RWY (PLENTY LONG FOR LNDG WT BUT NOT THE LONGEST RWY AT THE ARPT). 3) HIGH ENERGY APCH (TOUCHDOWN AT VREF +14K). 4) R GEAR WOW SWITCH INDICATED WT OFF WHEEL FOR LESS THAN 1 SECOND. 5) R TIRE BLEW WHEN WT CAME BACK ON WHEEL. 6) DIRECTIONAL CTL REQUIRED ENOUGH L BRAKE THAT THE L TIRE BLEW. (THERE IS NO ANTISKID ON ACFT.) 7)DAMAGE WAS 2 TIRES; 2 BRAKES; 2 WHEELS; 1 GEAR DOOR. THE R TIRE BLEW WHEN THE TIRE CAME BACK IN CONTACT WITH THE RWY AFTER THE WT WAS OFF THE WHEEL. WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED; THE TIRE BLEW; THE PLANE STARTED TO TURN R AND L BRAKE WAS REQUIRED TO STOP THE TURN. THE L TIRE EVENTUALLY BLEW. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE HIGH ENERGY; R XWIND; NO ANTI-SKID INSTALLED ON THE ACFT; HIGH GROSS WT AND SHORT RWY. CORRECTIVE ACTION IS USE LONGER RWY; MANAGE SPD AND ENERGY BETTER ON FINAL; USE PROPER XWIND TECHNIQUE.
