Narrative:

Following the teb 5 departure off of runway 24 (runway heading to 1500 ft then right turn to 280 heading until the 4.5 DME from teb; thence climb to 2000 ft). The sic was the pilot flying and was using both LNAV and VNAV. The fixes and altitudes in the FMS were verified and correct. He leveled at 1500 ft then made the turn to heading 280 then began a climb (disregarding the flight director) prior to the 4.5 DME. He has done the departure several times in the past and briefed it properly before takeoff. He gained 250 ft +/- before making a correction. I corrected him at 1650 ft (150 ft above the correct altitude). There were no conflicts and ATC did not say anything about our mistake.
