Narrative:

Prior to flap extension; we noticed a split in the flap indicator needles; but the aircraft was flying straight. When selected; the flaps did not extend. We performed the trailing edge flap asymmetry procedure; then the trailing edge flaps up procedure in the QRH. After declaring an emergency; we landed without incident. After landing; we stopped and had the fire trucks inspect the landing gear before taxiing to the gate.
