Narrative:
Airplane came in with write-up for pressure fluctuations (outflow value not consistent). Maintenance tried to get us to take airplane as is. I refused. Maintenance replaced outflow valve and pressurization controller. Ground checked ok by maintenance. At lift-off; both pilots felt a 'pop' and the cabin rate of climb shot to 3800 FPM. Both automatic and standby pressurization system failed. We leveled off at 9000 ft; called dispatch and maintenance but not able to recover system. We burned gas to land below maximum landing weight; and returned to the gate.
