Narrative:
While descending with autopilot engaged for landing we deviated below our assigned altitude of FL240. This deviation occurred during extensive communication with center regarding runway assignment/closure and approach type. Both PF and PNF became involved with this communication and programming the FMS. When this deviation was detected; we immediately returned to our assigned FL240.

Title: A BE400 PILOT REPORTS DESCENDING BELOW THE CLEARED ALT WHILE DESCENDING ON AUTOPILOT AND CONVERSING EXTENSIVELY WITH ATC.
Narrative: WHILE DESCENDING WITH AUTOPILOT ENGAGED FOR LANDING WE DEVIATED BELOW OUR ASSIGNED ALTITUDE OF FL240. THIS DEVIATION OCCURRED DURING EXTENSIVE COMMUNICATION WITH CENTER REGARDING RUNWAY ASSIGNMENT/CLOSURE AND APPROACH TYPE. BOTH PF AND PNF BECAME INVOLVED WITH THIS COMMUNICATION AND PROGRAMMING THE FMS. WHEN THIS DEVIATION WAS DETECTED; WE IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO OUR ASSIGNED FL240.
