Narrative:

Parking the aircraft at the gate in tulsa; I followed the marshaller's instructions and stopped where I was told to stop. Afterwards; it was revealed to me that the jetway had been left in place from an rj departure before our arrival. The marshaller had mistakenly parked me into the parking position for an rj and not a B737. The result was that my left engine had stopped about a foot from the jetway while still running. While securing my personal items; the night supervisor signaled to me to start my APU. When it came on line; I simply xferred power; secured the left engine; and continued to secure the cockpit; thinking that was the way they wanted the aircraft for overnight cleaning; totally unaware of how close the jetway sat to my engine. I saw the supervisor below my window; opened it and was told the tug was going to push us back 10 ft! Later; while helping with some wheelchair passenger; one of the wheelchair attendants told me she'd never seen an engine that close before! I investigated and discovered what had taken place. I spoke with the night supervisor; giving him my perspective while following the marshaller's guidance. Inspection of the engine revealed no damage.

Title: B737-300 CAPT FOLLOWS PARKING GUIDANCE FROM MARSHALLER. SINCE JETWAY WAS IN WRONG LOCATION; ACFT STOPPED WITH JUST 1 FT CLEARANCE FROM JETWAY.

Narrative: PARKING THE ACFT AT THE GATE IN TULSA; I FOLLOWED THE MARSHALLER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND STOPPED WHERE I WAS TOLD TO STOP. AFTERWARDS; IT WAS REVEALED TO ME THAT THE JETWAY HAD BEEN LEFT IN PLACE FROM AN RJ DEP BEFORE OUR ARR. THE MARSHALLER HAD MISTAKENLY PARKED ME INTO THE PARKING POS FOR AN RJ AND NOT A B737. THE RESULT WAS THAT MY L ENG HAD STOPPED ABOUT A FOOT FROM THE JETWAY WHILE STILL RUNNING. WHILE SECURING MY PERSONAL ITEMS; THE NIGHT SUPVR SIGNALED TO ME TO START MY APU. WHEN IT CAME ON LINE; I SIMPLY XFERRED PWR; SECURED THE L ENG; AND CONTINUED TO SECURE THE COCKPIT; THINKING THAT WAS THE WAY THEY WANTED THE ACFT FOR OVERNIGHT CLEANING; TOTALLY UNAWARE OF HOW CLOSE THE JETWAY SAT TO MY ENG. I SAW THE SUPVR BELOW MY WINDOW; OPENED IT AND WAS TOLD THE TUG WAS GOING TO PUSH US BACK 10 FT! LATER; WHILE HELPING WITH SOME WHEELCHAIR PAX; ONE OF THE WHEELCHAIR ATTENDANTS TOLD ME SHE'D NEVER SEEN AN ENG THAT CLOSE BEFORE! I INVESTIGATED AND DISCOVERED WHAT HAD TAKEN PLACE. I SPOKE WITH THE NIGHT SUPVR; GIVING HIM MY PERSPECTIVE WHILE FOLLOWING THE MARSHALLER'S GUIDANCE. INSPECTION OF THE ENG REVEALED NO DAMAGE.
