Narrative:

Taxiing for takeoff; I noticed small access door open on right side of nose of crj ahead of us. Told clt tower; who told him; he taxied back to ramp. This is the door that covers interphone jack for ground crew and was left open. It is not hinged at forward edge; so it will not streamline in flight. There is no warning light for this door. It can separate in flight and be ingested into right engine. FAA poi aware of this and has advised operators to rtf if door opens in flight. How about a forward edge hinge? Does this need a safety alert to get their attention?
