Narrative:

While parked; the aircraft was struck by an air cart being towed by a tug; resulting in an approximately 1 square ft tear in the fuselage and damage to underlying structure below door R1. Apparently; negligence; excessive speed of the towing vehicle and lack of a safety marshaller may have resulted in the aircraft being damaged when the air cart was being towed to an operable position near the aircraft.

Title: ACR CAPTAIN REPORTS DAMAGE TO B737 WHILE PARKED; BY THE GROUND CREW TOWING AN AIR CART INTO POSITION FOR START.

Narrative: WHILE PARKED; THE ACFT WAS STRUCK BY AN AIR CART BEING TOWED BY A TUG; RESULTING IN AN APPROX 1 SQUARE FT TEAR IN THE FUSELAGE AND DAMAGE TO UNDERLYING STRUCTURE BELOW DOOR R1. APPARENTLY; NEGLIGENCE; EXCESSIVE SPD OF THE TOWING VEHICLE AND LACK OF A SAFETY MARSHALLER MAY HAVE RESULTED IN THE ACFT BEING DAMAGED WHEN THE AIR CART WAS BEING TOWED TO AN OPERABLE POS NEAR THE ACFT.
