Narrative:

Unsafe working conditions at jacksonville; fl; approach control (jax). The roof on the base building is being replaced. The contractor is using an adhesive that is toxic and causing serious health problems for the controllers that work at jax. During installation this chemical was allowed to drip into the suspended ceiling and out of the hvac vents onto the floors; couches and other equipment. We have been exposed to these fumes for over a month. Several employees have gone home sick from these fumes. One even had to be taken to the rescue station. Symptoms include headaches; difficulty concentrating (even on simple tasks); nausea; burning of nasal cavities and many more. Management has denied that there is a problem at all. But they have had the doors open (which is a security violation) trying to air out the building that supposedly does not have a problem. This has put all of the employees at risk of an error or worse a collision by being subjected to these intoxicating fumes. Osha is scheduled to investigate this on monday. Today there has been a beehive of activity trying to mitigate these fumes. Air scrubbers brought in; fans moving air out of the radar room (before today doors were mandated to be shut) they are replacing ceiling tiles that have this adhesive dripped onto the back off them(finally after a month). This problem is going to get worse as the temperature goes up. Something needs to happen to get this fixed before someone gets hurt.

Title: JAX CTLR DESCRIBED ROOF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT THAT IS CAUSING FUMES IN THE CTL ROOM AND HEALTH ISSUES WITH SEVERAL CTLR'S.

Narrative: UNSAFE WORKING CONDITIONS AT JACKSONVILLE; FL; APCH CTL (JAX). THE ROOF ON THE BASE BUILDING IS BEING REPLACED. THE CONTRACTOR IS USING AN ADHESIVE THAT IS TOXIC AND CAUSING SERIOUS HEALTH PROBS FOR THE CTLRS THAT WORK AT JAX. DURING INSTALLATION THIS CHEMICAL WAS ALLOWED TO DRIP INTO THE SUSPENDED CEILING AND OUT OF THE HVAC VENTS ONTO THE FLOORS; COUCHES AND OTHER EQUIP. MGMNT HAS DENIED THAT THERE IS A PROB AT ALL. BUT THEY HAVE HAD THE DOORS OPEN (WHICH IS A SECURITY VIOLATION) TRYING TO AIR OUT THE BUILDING THAT SUPPOSEDLY DOES NOT HAVE A PROB. THIS PROB IS GOING TO GET WORSE AS THE TEMP GOES UP. SOMETHING NEEDS TO HAPPEN TO GET THIS FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
