Narrative:
Followed safe gate guidance system to stop at gate. Guide man was present and waved off system stop and directed me to pull further forward approximately 5 ft. After engine shutdown yyz airport safety officer brought to my attention that the jetbridge had approximately 2 ft clearance to #1 engine. No damage to either aircraft or jetbridge but this is a potentially dangerous situation. Door 2L was used in this instance. Perhaps door 1L is a better choice for this gate. Additionally; if gate system is not giving proper guidance it should not be turned on.
