Narrative:

In cruise at FL380; we received den ATIS indicating landing south. ILS runway 17R was already in FMGC. First officer (PNF) entered 17000 ft/250 KTS at quail for planning purposes. During descent we received new ATIS for north arrs. I entered runway 35L in FMGC and briefed approach. About this time we got ATC clearance to descend to FL240 and cross quail at 17000/250 KTS. I inadvertently failed to confirm the crossing in the FMGC per SOP. It had been deleted when I entered the new runway. At approximately 6 DME from quail and FL230; ATC asked if we would make crossing at quail which we said we would not. I increased descent and speed and we crossed quail at approximately FL200 and 280 KTS. The descent was done in VNAV mode up until I began to expedite the descent to try to make the quail crossing. Center switched to den approach who gave us turns and slowdown with further descent. I asked ATC if there was a loss of separation and was told no. Landed den with no further issues. I was well rested and had no fatigue.

Title: A320 CREW MISSES CROSSING RESTRICTION AT QUAIL; ON THE QUAIL 5 INTO DEN; AFTER CHANGE-IN RWY ASSIGNMENT.

Narrative: IN CRUISE AT FL380; WE RECEIVED DEN ATIS INDICATING LNDG SOUTH. ILS RWY 17R WAS ALREADY IN FMGC. FO (PNF) ENTERED 17000 FT/250 KTS AT QUAIL FOR PLANNING PURPOSES. DURING DSCNT WE RECEIVED NEW ATIS FOR NORTH ARRS. I ENTERED RWY 35L IN FMGC AND BRIEFED APCH. ABOUT THIS TIME WE GOT ATC CLRNC TO DSND TO FL240 AND CROSS QUAIL AT 17000/250 KTS. I INADVERTENTLY FAILED TO CONFIRM THE CROSSING IN THE FMGC PER SOP. IT HAD BEEN DELETED WHEN I ENTERED THE NEW RWY. AT APPROX 6 DME FROM QUAIL AND FL230; ATC ASKED IF WE WOULD MAKE CROSSING AT QUAIL WHICH WE SAID WE WOULD NOT. I INCREASED DSCNT AND SPD AND WE CROSSED QUAIL AT APPROX FL200 AND 280 KTS. THE DSCNT WAS DONE IN VNAV MODE UP UNTIL I BEGAN TO EXPEDITE THE DSCNT TO TRY TO MAKE THE QUAIL CROSSING. CENTER SWITCHED TO DEN APCH WHO GAVE US TURNS AND SLOWDOWN WITH FURTHER DSCNT. I ASKED ATC IF THERE WAS A LOSS OF SEPARATION AND WAS TOLD NO. LANDED DEN WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES. I WAS WELL RESTED AND HAD NO FATIGUE.
