Narrative:

We had MEL; bleed hpsov. The current MEL has a revision bar by a requirement to perform XXX. The signoff from 6 days prior in dfw stated placarded per MEL. Nowhere was there a signoff performed MEL X. We called maintenance and when the mechanic showed up there was no manual to reference. He called and was read the MEL; told us the procedure had been done (who knows how he knew); and there was no requirement to sign it off as performed. Since we don't have a copy of the manual we were stuck taking his word. We were using the MEL in efb format. My laptop would not be any heavier if the manual was on the hard drive also.
