Narrative:

I was preparing to departure cak on an IFR flight plan to my home base. I was directed by cak ground to taxi from the FBO to runway 23; which was immediately adjacent to the FBO. I failed to see the hold short bars for runway 23 and inadvertently crossed them. The bars were faded and extremely faint. About the time I realized that there were no hold short bars in front of me; I was directed to either do a 180 degree turn or contact tower for departure clearance. I did a 180 degree turn to perform my run-up. I then was cleared for departure without incident. I believe that repainting the hold short bars so that they are more visible would have prevented my inadvertent incursion.

Title: BE58 PLT CROSSES HOLD BARS FOR RWY 23 AT CAK WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: I WAS PREPARING TO DEP CAK ON AN IFR FLT PLAN TO MY HOME BASE. I WAS DIRECTED BY CAK GND TO TAXI FROM THE FBO TO RWY 23; WHICH WAS IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE FBO. I FAILED TO SEE THE HOLD SHORT BARS FOR RWY 23 AND INADVERTENTLY CROSSED THEM. THE BARS WERE FADED AND EXTREMELY FAINT. ABOUT THE TIME I REALIZED THAT THERE WERE NO HOLD SHORT BARS IN FRONT OF ME; I WAS DIRECTED TO EITHER DO A 180 DEG TURN OR CONTACT TWR FOR DEP CLRNC. I DID A 180 DEG TURN TO PERFORM MY RUN-UP. I THEN WAS CLRED FOR DEP WITHOUT INCIDENT. I BELIEVE THAT REPAINTING THE HOLD SHORT BARS SO THAT THEY ARE MORE VISIBLE WOULD HAVE PREVENTED MY INADVERTENT INCURSION.
