Narrative:

In the course of taxiing from parking to runway 34 at pwk, I crossed the combined hold short line for runway 6/24 and runway 16/34 at taxiway D without ATC authority/authorized. The ground controller caught the problem and told me to stop. I came to a stop about 1 plane length inside the protected area (with my tail just inside the hold short line), still well clear of runway 16/34. About 10 seconds later, another aircraft departed runway 34. I attribute the incident to my misinterping a clearance. A contributing factor may have been major construction going on at the airport, which had both runways 6/24 and 12/30 closed and resulted in taxi procedures different from the usual ones.

Title: A PA28 PLT CROSSES THE RWY 2-24 AND 16-34 COMMON HOLD SHORT LINE WITHOUT A CLRNC AT PWK.

Narrative: IN THE COURSE OF TAXIING FROM PARKING TO RWY 34 AT PWK, I CROSSED THE COMBINED HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 6/24 AND RWY 16/34 AT TXWY D WITHOUT ATC AUTH. THE GND CTLR CAUGHT THE PROB AND TOLD ME TO STOP. I CAME TO A STOP ABOUT 1 PLANE LENGTH INSIDE THE PROTECTED AREA (WITH MY TAIL JUST INSIDE THE HOLD SHORT LINE), STILL WELL CLR OF RWY 16/34. ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER, ANOTHER ACFT DEPARTED RWY 34. I ATTRIBUTE THE INCIDENT TO MY MISINTERPING A CLRNC. A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR MAY HAVE BEEN MAJOR CONSTRUCTION GOING ON AT THE ARPT, WHICH HAD BOTH RWYS 6/24 AND 12/30 CLOSED AND RESULTED IN TAXI PROCS DIFFERENT FROM THE USUAL ONES.
