Narrative:

At linden; nj; there is busy helicopter traffic. During preflight of my fixed wing aircraft; I noticed that helicopters take off from the ramp; then fly at low level to the mid point of the runway; and then turn to the runway direction and climb out. Fixed wing aircraft taxi to the end of the runway; where a fence obscures the view of helicopters on the ramp. I called 'linden traffic navion taking the active 27 linden;' then lined up and took off. I do not recall hearing a response (not expected on unicom; unless there is a conflict). I saw no traffic in front of me on the runway; and do not recall hearing another call for somebody taking off. At approximately 300 ft; approximately as I crossed the airport fence; I saw the chopper under my left wing. Somebody called on the radio to ask if I was on frequency to which I replied 'yes.'

Narrative: AT LINDEN; NJ; THERE IS BUSY HELI TFC. I DO NOT RECALL HEARING A RESPONSE (NOT EXPECTED ON UNICOM; UNLESS THERE IS A CONFLICT). I SAW NO TFC IN FRONT OF ME ON THE RWY; AND DO NOT RECALL HEARING ANOTHER CALL FOR SOMEBODY TAKING OFF. AT APPROX 300 FT; APPROX AS I CROSSED THE ARPT FENCE; I SAW THE CHOPPER UNDER MY L WING. SOMEBODY CALLED ON THE RADIO TO ASK IF I WAS ON FREQ TO WHICH I REPLIED 'YES.'
