Narrative:

Upon boarding the plane which had arrived late after diverting to mke; I noticed there were many hazmat forms for our flight. In fact there were 8 for category 3 hazmat; 1 for category 2.1; 3 for category 9; and dry ice. As my first officer and I started adding them up we came up with over 38.2 kilograms between categories 9 and 2.1 and 29.58 liters of category 3. These figures include no dry ice. According to company manual both the kilograms (25 maximum) and liters (25 maximum) were over the maximum. All the numbers I tried; including what I thought was the 24 hour number for checking these items were closed for the day so I called operations. Operations sent out a cargo specialist to discuss the problem and take an appropriate amount of weight and volume of hazmat to make us legal. Is anyone on the ground supposed to add up or check total net quantities of combined hazmat? Please let all of us know.
