Narrative:

After takeoff while climbing out on the LNAV departure runway 18L; was a given a clearance to take up a heading after an intersection down line on the departure. With radio congestion and aircraft clean up commands; instructions were misunderstood. We started our heading immediately; turned about 30 degrees. When recognized the problem; we turned back to intercept LNAV departure and continued flying the course. We were only off course for a few seconds when we realized the situation. After establishing course tracking we questioned ATC and they indicated there was no problem.
