Narrative:

On landing at cos on mar/xa/06 winds reported at 240 degrees at 21 KTS gusting to 41 KTS. Advised to land runway 17R. Landing runway 30 would have been better by 10 degrees. I understand I could have asked for runway 30. The plane was blown by a strong gust to the left upon landing and the left main gear doors hit 2 lights on the left of the runway. These lights are located 10 ft inside the pavement for some reason. Notified tower of lights being hit. Gear door was fiberglas and torn about 6 inches at bottom. Inspection showed no other obvious damage and plane was flown home gear down. FAA person filing a report for some reason contacted me and information was provided. At the end of the discussion the FAA person noted that it may have been a violation of the far to fly the plane with the fiberglas door damage. I had consulted my mechanic and inspected the plane/propellers and gear myself and everything appeared fine. The plane was flown home; door replaced and no other damage is noted.
