Narrative:

I was training and my trainer removed strips on a departure instead of an arrival. Numerous training issues were distracting as well as a radar scope with an abnormal amount of ground clutter. Aircraft went unmonitored from farmington; NM; to just north of gallup; NM. Instructor never saw trainer remove strip on aircraft. Trainer is a 12 yr experienced xfer controller. Aircraft entered adjacent airspace before aircraft was reidented.
