Narrative:

Aircraft dispatched with MEL (yellow ECAM system low pressure). Flight crew conducted operations procedure in accordance with MEL requirements. On taxi out before takeoff; cockpit indications were somewhat confusing. Captain called dispatch and maintenance foreman for clarification in accordance with fom requirements. Concluded after conversation with dispatch and maintenance that aircraft safety was not compromised if we departed with yellow hydraulic pump on with all system normal. Directed by maintenance to write up discrepancy again upon arrival in ZZZ1. Subsequent to flight; flight crew learned that maintenance may have mislabeled the actual irregular condition affecting aircraft.
