Narrative:

After departure from teb on runway 24 our clearance was to climb to 1500 ft on runway heading then turn right to heading 280 degrees. At 1200 ft we received a resolution alert to 'monitor vertical speed.' I leveled off at 1200 ft then descended to 1100 ft. We saw the conflicting aircraft. It passed about 200 ft above us and slightly behind us from right to left. TCAS said 'clear of conflict.' I then climbed up to 1500 ft; told the controller about the RA; and continued the departure. The controller asked us if the other aircraft was a newark arrival or a teb arrival. We responded that we did not know.
