Narrative:

During the exterior preflight for subsequent flight; a foreign substance was seen clinging to the top outboard leading edge slat area of the right wing. At first it was thought to be feathers; but was quickly idented as plant leaves when the leading edge devices were lowered and the material fell to the ground. Station maintenance inspected the wing area and there was no evidence of damage or further contamination. The likely culprit was close growing shrubbery on the parallel taxiway that was contacted during taxi-in. The station manager was notified and promised to send a message to airport auths. After departure; we concluded that a log entry should have been made to ensure that proper documentation was made and inspections logged. The captain decided to make an entry after landing at destination.

Title: A B757-200 CREW RPTS FINDING LEAVES ON THE R WING LEADING EDGE SLAT THAT APPEAR TO HAVE COME FROM VEGETATION OVERHANGING A MHTG TXWY.

Narrative: DURING THE EXTERIOR PREFLT FOR SUBSEQUENT FLT; A FOREIGN SUBSTANCE WAS SEEN CLINGING TO THE TOP OUTBOARD LEADING EDGE SLAT AREA OF THE R WING. AT FIRST IT WAS THOUGHT TO BE FEATHERS; BUT WAS QUICKLY IDENTED AS PLANT LEAVES WHEN THE LEADING EDGE DEVICES WERE LOWERED AND THE MATERIAL FELL TO THE GND. STATION MAINT INSPECTED THE WING AREA AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF DAMAGE OR FURTHER CONTAMINATION. THE LIKELY CULPRIT WAS CLOSE GROWING SHRUBBERY ON THE PARALLEL TXWY THAT WAS CONTACTED DURING TAXI-IN. THE STATION MGR WAS NOTIFIED AND PROMISED TO SEND A MESSAGE TO ARPT AUTHS. AFTER DEP; WE CONCLUDED THAT A LOG ENTRY SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE TO ENSURE THAT PROPER DOCUMENTATION WAS MADE AND INSPECTIONS LOGGED. THE CAPT DECIDED TO MAKE AN ENTRY AFTER LNDG AT DEST.
