Narrative:

Aircraft arrived with previous MEL 31-3 for aircraft flight data acquisition unit fail. After I reviewed a log page and found out it was the repeat problems and aircraft flight data acquisition unit had replaced twice; I called maintenance control and told maintenance control about this problem and asked them what to do. He told me an aircraft would stay overnight and let me talk to 'emb' technical representative. I told technical representative about this and asked him; 'should I need replace another aircraft flight data acquisition unit again?' he told me not to put another new aircraft flight data acquisition unit in and he would send a work card for troubleshooting and aircraft flight data acquisition unit. Then maintenance control ok'ed to let airplane fly to ZZZ1 for more troubleshooting. I have to aircraft flight data acquisition unit because is designate airport and let MEL remain open. I cannot clear an MEL because this aircraft flight data acquisition unit was intermittent problem and is operations checked good on ground right now and requires more troubleshooting per technical representation. I did forget to say in log page was designate airport per MEL 31-3.

Title: AN EMB140 WITH A DEFERRED ITEM ON THE DIGITAL FLT DATA ACQUISITION UNIT NEEDED TO BE RE-DEFERRED TO A STATION WHERE REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENTS COULD BE MADE. TECHNICIAN FAILED TO UPDATE THE DEFERRED ITEM TEXT WITH THE STATION.

Narrative: ACFT ARRIVED WITH PREVIOUS MEL 31-3 FOR ACFT FLT DATA ACQUISITION UNIT FAIL. AFTER I REVIEWED A LOG PAGE AND FOUND OUT IT WAS THE REPEAT PROBS AND ACFT FLT DATA ACQUISITION UNIT HAD REPLACED TWICE; I CALLED MAINT CTL AND TOLD MAINT CTL ABOUT THIS PROB AND ASKED THEM WHAT TO DO. THEN MAINT CTL OK'ED TO LET AIRPLANE FLY TO ZZZ1 FOR MORE TROUBLESHOOTING. I HAVE TO ACFT FLT DATA ACQUISITION UNIT BECAUSE IS DESIGNATE ARPT AND LET MEL REMAIN OPEN.
