Narrative:

On takeoff on runway 8 above 80 KTS; but below V1; we got an overtemp on engine #1 by about 3-4 degrees. I called for the abort and taxied off the runway. I informed ATC/company/flight attendant and passenger of the situation. I called our maintenance control and our dispatch to tell them what had occurred. Maintenance had me reset our takeoff setting and then do a full power run-up. No overtemp on engines was observed. They then had me reset the fadec breakers and also de-pwred and re-pwred the aircraft to clear the message on the EICAS. Then they told us we were good to go and attempted the takeoff again. On the second attempt; the engine #1 overtemp'ed again. We aborted and returned to gate. We took another aircraft back to base later that night while maintenance worked on the aircraft. I was contacted the next day by my supervisor; informing me that I might have violated an far by doing the second takeoff attempt. We had run all checklists for this problem and contacted maintenance control as per the checklist; and after following their instructions; doing a successful run-up and being told we were 'good to go' I felt we had done everything right. Also felt we were not doing anything unsafe. If in fact this was wrong; then not sure why maintenance told us it was ok.

Narrative: ON TKOF ON RWY 8 ABOVE 80 KTS; BUT BELOW V1; WE GOT AN OVERTEMP ON ENG #1 BY ABOUT 3-4 DEGS. I CALLED FOR THE ABORT AND TAXIED OFF THE RWY. I INFORMED ATC/COMPANY/FLT ATTENDANT AND PAX OF THE SIT. I CALLED OUR MAINT CTL AND OUR DISPATCH TO TELL THEM WHAT HAD OCCURRED. MAINT HAD ME RESET OUR TKOF SETTING AND THEN DO A FULL PWR RUN-UP. NO OVERTEMP ON ENGS WAS OBSERVED. THEY THEN HAD ME RESET THE FADEC BREAKERS AND ALSO DE-PWRED AND RE-PWRED THE ACFT TO CLR THE MESSAGE ON THE EICAS. THEN THEY TOLD US WE WERE GOOD TO GO AND ATTEMPTED THE TKOF AGAIN. ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT; THE ENG #1 OVERTEMP'ED AGAIN. WE ABORTED AND RETURNED TO GATE. WE TOOK ANOTHER ACFT BACK TO BASE LATER THAT NIGHT WHILE MAINT WORKED ON THE ACFT. I WAS CONTACTED THE NEXT DAY BY MY SUPVR; INFORMING ME THAT I MIGHT HAVE VIOLATED AN FAR BY DOING THE SECOND TKOF ATTEMPT. WE HAD RUN ALL CHKLISTS FOR THIS PROB AND CONTACTED MAINT CTL AS PER THE CHKLIST; AND AFTER FOLLOWING THEIR INSTRUCTIONS; DOING A SUCCESSFUL RUN-UP AND BEING TOLD WE WERE 'GOOD TO GO' I FELT WE HAD DONE EVERYTHING RIGHT. ALSO FELT WE WERE NOT DOING ANYTHING UNSAFE. IF IN FACT THIS WAS WRONG; THEN NOT SURE WHY MAINT TOLD US IT WAS OK.
