Narrative:

Our trip is scheduled with an 11:52 hours of flying on day two with an 11:15 layover. There is no way to prepare yourself for this trip due to the inherent circadian rhythm problems in it. I flew an all nighter in from sfo and was expected to fly out again that night back to sfo. I was fatigued and called our crew desk and notified them I would be unable to take the departure out due to inadequate rest and fatigue. I called them 5 hours prior to departure after a fitful 4 hours of sleep with neighbors next door arguing. The problem in this trip is that there is no way to prepare for the trips physically. The first day is an early eve departure; the second day is an all nighter with an early eve departure that night. The last day is an afternoon departure after only a 15 hour layover. Human beings' bodies' requirement for rest cannot change as fast as this schedule requires and is fatiguing. I also believe that the trip is illegal as it schedules more than 8 hours of flying in a 24 hour period. I will call off fatigue when I am adequately rested and ready for an assignment I can perform safely.

Title: CAPT OF B757 CALLS IN FATIGUED DUE TO POOR SCHEDULING AND INTERRUPTED SHORT REST PERIOD BETWEEN DUTY PERIODS.

Narrative: OUR TRIP IS SCHEDULED WITH AN 11:52 HRS OF FLYING ON DAY TWO WITH AN 11:15 LAYOVER. THERE IS NO WAY TO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THIS TRIP DUE TO THE INHERENT CIRCADIAN RHYTHM PROBS IN IT. I FLEW AN ALL NIGHTER IN FROM SFO AND WAS EXPECTED TO FLY OUT AGAIN THAT NIGHT BACK TO SFO. I WAS FATIGUED AND CALLED OUR CREW DESK AND NOTIFIED THEM I WOULD BE UNABLE TO TAKE THE DEP OUT DUE TO INADEQUATE REST AND FATIGUE. I CALLED THEM 5 HRS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE AFTER A FITFUL 4 HRS OF SLEEP WITH NEIGHBORS NEXT DOOR ARGUING. THE PROB IN THIS TRIP IS THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO PREPARE FOR THE TRIPS PHYSICALLY. THE FIRST DAY IS AN EARLY EVE DEP; THE SECOND DAY IS AN ALL NIGHTER WITH AN EARLY EVE DEP THAT NIGHT. THE LAST DAY IS AN AFTERNOON DEP AFTER ONLY A 15 HR LAYOVER. HUMAN BEINGS' BODIES' REQUIREMENT FOR REST CANNOT CHANGE AS FAST AS THIS SCHEDULE REQUIRES AND IS FATIGUING. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THE TRIP IS ILLEGAL AS IT SCHEDULES MORE THAN 8 HRS OF FLYING IN A 24 HR PERIOD. I WILL CALL OFF FATIGUE WHEN I AM ADEQUATELY RESTED AND READY FOR AN ASSIGNMENT I CAN PERFORM SAFELY.
