Narrative:

45 mins after departure; I received a call from ZZZ maintenance that the left engine reverser had not been deferred correctly -- steps in paragraph D section 5 items C and D were not completed. The flight was from ZZZ to ZZZ1. I advised the dispatcher that I wanted to turn the aircraft around and return it to ZZZ. He discussed it with the flight duty manager who decided that as it was not a safety of flight issue; it could continue to ZZZ1.
