Narrative:

Smelled electrical burning smell in aft galley. #2 flight attendant called pilot to report smell; at which time he said he also smelled electrical burning smell in cockpit and told us to prepare for an emergency landing in ZZZZ. Landed without further incident. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: originally detected an electrical burning odor in the aft galley area and believed it was the video recorder in the rear overhead bin. The flight crew was advised and told us they also smelled the odor and were declaring an emergency and returning to the departure station. On the ground; maintenance checked the video recorder and reported it was ok and not overheated. After several hours delay; maintenance reported finding overheated wiring between the cockpit and the galley; then the flight departed. Reporter had no additional information on location of wiring or system involved.
