Narrative:

During cruise at FL350, we experienced a severe airframe jolt or impact, followed by a very pungent electrical burning smell filling the cockpit. All cockpit indications, ie, engine instrument, EICAS, etc, were normal. We declared an emergency and diverted immediately to rbr -- the closest suitable runway -- and landed overweight. Approach and landing were normal and smooth.
